Starting an Architecture company of my own has always been a dream of mine. Even from a young age, Architecture has always stood out as something I would enjoy doing and furthering my knowledge in. I have always been interested in buildings and structures, studying at both college and university to forge a career working within the architectural sector.
16 years old and fresh out of secondary school, I managed to successfully secure work experience at a well known local practice, which then began my 10 and 1/2 year journey there. I worked on a wide range of projects in predominantly the residential sector, some of which were award nominated.
A move from this company at the start of 2016 was a big learning curve for me personally as I was given more responsibility which required direct client correspondence and my own projects to micro manage. It was here that I expanded my understanding of the building regulations, working as a technician.
Another career move followed in the middle of 2017; this was into the exciting prospect of the commercial sector at a rapidly expanding design and build company, specialising in care homes. I was heavily involved with all projects from obtaining planning permission on large housing developments to providing full working drawing packages for 70+ bedroom care homes, while also attending site meetings throughout the building process.
